A computer breach at the Texas state comptroller’s office has cost taxpayers $1.8 million. The heads of IT and information security were fired along with two other employees.

GovInfoSecurity reports the social security numbers, addresses and birth dates of more than 3 million individuals were exposed online for more than two months in early 2010.
