Maj. Gen. Dale Meyerrose (ret.), Air Force

A decade's worth of catch-up coming in the Air Force.

Gen. Mark Welsh, the Air Force chief of staff, promises 10 years of catch-up before the Air Force reaches its readiness goals. He says spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and then sequestration prevented the Air Force from investing in the training and preparation it needs. Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Dale Meyerrose was chief information officer for three Air Force commands and three joint combatant commands. He was also the first CIO of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
