Veterans Day 2016

This is one of those very federal holidays because in many cases only federal workers are off. Senior Correspondent Mike Causey looks at Veterans Day.

It’s really not right to call Veterans Day a holiday. It isn’t, and should not be, a festive event. It’s a time to honor people for their service, in war and peace, to their country. Veterans Day grew out of Armistice Day which celebrated the end of (at least the cease-fire) of World War I. The Armistice, ending the war that was supposed to end all war, took place at 11/11/11 . The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

So whether this is a holiday, a day of remembrance and thanks, or you are working, remember a lot of people gave of their time, their blood, and in many cases their lives to earn a salute from all of us.
