The COVID-19 pandemic didn’t invent the idea of anyone could be a coder. But over the last year, many recognized that introducing new and urgent capabilities or expanding existing ones was much easier when they didn’t have to know how to code.

This concept of low-code or no-code development spurred digitization efforts across the government and the world.

Gartner, the research company, projects that the total low-code development technology market will reach almost $14 billion in 2021, up almost 23% from 2020.

Gartner says the surge in remote development during the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to boost low- code adoption, despite ongoing cost optimization efforts.

And that means Gartner expects the use of low-code application platforms to remain the largest component of the low-code development technology market through 2022, increasing nearly 30% from 2020 to reach $5.8 billion in 2021.

To get to the point where coding is truly something every employee can do, agencies need to standardize development processes through Dev/Sec/Ops. They need to understand their applications inventories and ensure their IT and acquisition workforce are prepared for this digital transformation.

And, of course, the key piece to truly moving toward the democratization of their digital transformation is the data. Both the ability to access relevant data and the ability to understand what it means are key factors to this effort.

Learning objectives:
– Governance and process optimization
– Understanding software inventory
– Using DevSecOps to standardize development processes
