Someone has been chosen to fill President-elect Obama’s empty Senate seat. In a surprise move, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich chose former state Attorney General Ronald Burris. But instantly, the secretary of state there refused to certify the selection. And Democratic leaders in the Senate have said they will not seat anyone Blagojevich appoints.
