Military doctrine and strategy starts with assumptions. Such as that our crew knows how to conduct a large-scale war, or that our planes are so stealthy they will never be detected in time. These and many other assumptions are reassuring if they are true, but dangerous if they are not. Nora Bensahel, distinguished scholar in residence at American University, joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin to discuss more on what she considers dangerous assumptions.
