Although Friday is a popular day off for people working flexible schedules, it is the last day of the work week for many if not most feds. And as such, it is a time for rejoicing no matter how much you love your work.

But today is one of those funny Fridays that doesn’t feel like a Friday. Odds are you are stuffed with turkey, ham or veggie dishes made in the shape of pilgrims. If you have to work, it means you are either very important, vital to the nation’s health, safety and security. Or your in-laws are in town and work is an oasis.

Whether you are working today or at home, take a minute to think about your 2015 health plan. The open season ends a week from Monday. Switching to another plan may seem traumatic, but if its benefits are just as good, your doctor is in the network and the premiums are lower, you can save $1,000 to $2,000.
