March 3, 2015 — Judson Walker is the Systems Engineering director for Brocade. He helps federal information professionals improve speed and security on federal networks.
Many federal listeners are caught in a dilemma – they must add security recommendations like encryption, but how can they handle the complaints of speed degradation?
One option that Brocade provides is the ability to “off load” the work of encryption to other parts of the network. The idea is to have network devices that are normally dedicated to transferring packets to take on added work. This federation of work increases network speed and, at the same time, increases security.
Walker gives a logical step-by-step approach to network diagnostics. If you are in the middle of a system upgrade where you must comply with requirements to add encryption, you may want to consider some of the new offerings from Brocade.
