Today’s interview gives a perspective on Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act(FITARA).
The goal of FITARA is to eliminate duplication and waste in information technology acquisition for the federal government. The goals of the legislation are noble – reduction of duplicate systems, examine software licensing options, making the business case for acquisition, and the consolidation of data centers.
The rubber meets the road when federal information technology professionals have to apply these concepts. The PCS supported the AFEI in a series of workshops that examines many of the aspects of FITARA. During the interview Dave Wennergren summarizes some of the concepts on FITARA as focusing on moving from oversight to outcomes as well as transitioning from a seat at the table to a voice at the table.
New governance models are extremely difficult to deploy in large organizations, especially the federal government. Listen to the interview for insight on FITARA and attend the AFEI conference to interact with opinion leaders on implementing this new initiative.
