This week on “Off the Shelf” Jennifer J. Walcott and Bill Beyer, principals with Deloitte Consulting LLP, discuss strategic opportunities to achieve greater mission support for the federal government through shared services.

With the Office of Management and Budget’s announcement of a shared services governance body within the General Services Administration, there is growing momentum across the federal enterprise for increased service delivery through a shared services model.

Jennifer and Bill highlight the opportunities, challenges and best practices for implementing shared services. In particular, they discuss opportunities, challenges and progress towards acquisition shared services, including category management, and human resources shared services. Finally, Jennifer and Bill discuss key findings from a series of reports on shared services issued by the Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte.
