This week’s guest on “Off the Shelf”,  Vice Admiral Raquel C. Bono, director of the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

DHA is a relatively new organization and Admiral Bono discussed its origins, structure and vision for serving the healthcare needs of the warfighter and the warfighter’s family.

She describes the strategic and operational imperative of ensuring our service men and women are “medically ready” for deployment.  Admiral Bono also highlights progress in addressing DHA’s operational priorities for 2017, including implementation of a new electronic health record system, MHS GENESIS.

In addition, Admiral Bono updates DHA’s implementation of key health care delivery reforms/reorganization mandated in last year’s NDAA.  Finally, Admiral Bono highs innovative DHA strategies for working with the private sector to support DHA’s mission—A Partnership to Support the Warfighter.
