Lawmakers decry impending DoD cuts

Notwithstanding President Barack Obama’s call for Congress to come up with at least a short-term alternative to sequestration, there’s still no clear path around the automatic budget cuts, set to take place in less than a month. Military leaders have been warning that the cuts would lead to a “hollow force” by the end of this year.

On this week’s show, Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu talks about the impending cuts with two members of Congress, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.), the chairman of the House Armed Services subcommittee on readiness, and Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), whose suburban Washington district includes a high concentration of DoD civilian employees.
