Volunteer Alexandria

Volunteer Alexandria is your Volunteer Center inspiring and mobilizing people, six years and older, to volunteer for a stronger Alexandria community. Our volunteers are a powerful force for solving community problems, and are essential for a healthy, productive, and engaged community.

Since its founding in 1980, Volunteer Alexandria has served as a link between individual and group volunteers and area nonprofit organizations and Alexandria agencies in need of support. Volunteer Alexandria works in partnership with nonprofits, government and the business community to inspire people to volunteer, and to engage volunteers in activities that in turn strengthen our community.

Volunteer Alexandria has helped to make a critical difference in so many lives with volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, community groups and corporate team-building. Key initiatives include the annual holiday Toy Drive that provides toys to hundreds of families, the annual Serve-a-Thon day of service, local emergency preparedness training and COVID-19 Care for Community — an initiative launched to support those in need during the recent coronavirus outbreak.
