Fun stuff: take to the Sky Meadows in Delaplane

Federal News Radio speaks with Recreation News Editor Marvin Bond about interesting things to do in and near the nation’s capital. This week:

• fly over to Delaplane, Virginia for a series of events for kids celebrating life on the farm and out in nature (each full weekend in October, starting Oct. 7, at Sky Meadows State Park).

According to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation website, the name “Sky Meadows” comes from the name “Skye Farm,” which in turn was named after an island in Scotland by a former owner of the property.
