Fun stuff: go for someone else’s gold

Federal News Radio speaks with Recreation News Editor Marvin Bond about interesting things to do in and near the nation’s capital. This week:

• go to McHenry, Maryland and cheer on our winter athletes during the Olympic-themed Gold Medal Weekends at the Wisp ski resort (Feb. 9-11 and 23-25).

During the first Olympics, the ones in ancient Greece, the winner of a competition received not a gold medal, but a wreath made with the leaves of a wild olive tree.
