Fun stuff: don’t skip this one, Jack!

• get over to Deal Island, Maryland for music, food, a car show and boat races on the Chesapeake at the 60th Annual Skipjack Race and Festival (through Sept. 2, with the skipjack race Monday at 9:30 a.m.).

  The skipjack is a type of boat that has traditionally been used to dredge oyster beds in the Chesapeake Bay.
