NEW YORK (AP) — Matthew Centrowitz won his second Wanamaker Mile title at the Millrose Games, holding off Nick Willis by .11 seconds Saturday.

The 25-year-old Centrowitz also won the indoor meet’s signature event in 2012. He was a close second the following year.

Forty-year-old Bernard Lagat, who has won a record eight Wanamaker titles, entered the race for the first time since 2011, as he has focused on longer distances. He was fourth Saturday, shattering the masters indoor world record with his time of 3 minutes, 54.91 seconds. The previous mark of 3:58.15 was set by Ireland’s Eamonn Coghlan, who also held the record for most Wanamaker Mile titles under Lagat overtook him and was on hand to congratulate him Saturday.

Centrowitz won in 3:51.35 in the 108th edition of the Millrose Games.
