BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Jaemeril Wilson gave Lehigh the lead in overtime then blocked a shot off the backboard to help preserve the Mountain Hawks’ 57-55 upset of Boston University on Wednesday night.
The loss dropped the Terriers (17-13, 11-6) into a second-place tie in the Patriot League with American University with one game remaining. The loss also gave Colgate (13-4) the outright conference title despite the Raiders being upset at Bucknell 71-70.
Wilson’s overtime bucket came with 2:09 left. When BU’s Max Mahoney tried to score underneath, Wilson came up with the block. Jordan Cohen added two free throws to extend the lead to 57-54. Mahoney went to the line with 0.7 seconds left, made the first free throw and intentionally missed the second. The rebound came to Walter Whyte in the paint but he missed the putback.
The game was tied at 53-all going into overtime after Lehigh’s Marques Wilson missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
