The main population count not only takes place every 10 years, it also requires 10 years of planning. For 2020, that job falls to Lisa Blumerman, director of the 2020 count at the Census Bureau. The White House is putting enterprise risk management front and center as it updates a key policy on internal controls. That should be out later this year, but some agencies already have embraced the concept. The Census Bureau did so after a crisis several years ago that was embarrassing and costly.
