The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) program latest iteration helps turn work roles into codes.
The Office of Personnel Management published updated instructions for agencies to assign revised standard codes to their cybersecurity positions. It’s one of several recent steps the administration has taken to implement the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act, which Congress passed at the end of 2015.
Specific guidelines for maintaining and keeping track of the federal cybersecurity workforce are included in the 2016 omnibus, which Congress passed last week. Agency leaders will assign each position an employment code under the creation of a new National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education.
