White House reinstates Kundra

Vivek Kundra, the federal chief information officer, is back from administrative leave.

White House spokesman Nicholas Shapiro confirmed Kundra was back on the job. Sources say Kundra had been seen in his Office of Management and Budget office today.

The spokesman also said Kundra had done community service for a 1996 theft and the White House was satisfied that he had fully resolved the matter.

The White House suspended Kundra after two former co-workers in the Washington DC chief technology office were arrested by the FBI last week.

“Mr. Kundra has been informed that he is neither a subject nor a target of the investigation, and has been reinstated,” adds Shapiro.

Yusuf Acar, who until recently was acting chief security officer in D.C.’s technology office, is accused of defrauding the city through a falsified billing scheme. A U.S. magistrate ordered Acar on Tuesday to remain in jail.
