The Defense Department launches a fitness challenge for its civilian workers. The goal is for employees to record 1.5 million hours of physical activity by October 31st. It’s called the “Leap Into Fall” campaign. Workers can compete as individuals or on teams. Activities don’t have to be strenuous. They can be anything from gardening to biking or even golfing. The top three individuals or teams will receive recognition on the DOD civilian personnel management office’s Web site. You can record your activity at http://presidentschallenge.org/
The National Guard has new social media guidelines and these are a bit different. Instead of restricting use and asking users to NOT identify their National Guard status, the Guard is actually encouraging members to engage in unofficial Internet posts – responsibly, of course. And while users should be clear that they’re not speaking on behalf of the Guard, they are encouraged to identify themselves as Guard members. More information can be heard in our interview with Jack Harrison, Director of Communications at National Guard Bureau by clicking here. His division wrote the guidelines.
