The Air Force mistakenly gave rival companies sensitive information including confidential bids in a long-standing, multibillion dollar competition to build a new refueling tanker. Both Boeing and the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company are in competition for a $35 billion contract to build 179 new Air Force tankers. Air Force spokespeople called the mistake a “clerical error” and said the issue will not delay the awarding of a contract which is expected by year’s end. The Air Force has now made sure both companies have the same information and are reviewing the mistake to ensure it does not happen again.
