Some clarification from the Pentagon about who will be getting paid in case of a shutdown. Military members will continue to earn their wages if there’s a shutdown, but they’ll have to wait for Congress to approve a budget before they’ll get paid. Some members of the Defense Department’s federal civilian work force would be exempted from a shutdown because of their work in critical areas, or because they are funded through sources outside the federal budget. But officials say a significant number of DoD civilian employees will be furloughed come midnight tomorrow – if there’s no budget.
