A secret Google hacker has been identified.

The New York Times reports, he is Marius Milner. Milner wrote code that captured personal data from millions of people during Google’s Street View project. Google employees drove vehicles up and down the nation’s streets, making videos.

But Milner’s code was also collecting information from stray Wi-Fi signals. The FCC recently closed an investigation, saying Google hadn’t broken any laws.

During the probe, Milner was identified only as Engineer Doe. The Times got his name from a former state investigator. When questioned by the FCC, Milner cited the fifth amendment against self-incrimination.
