Presidential transitions

(This show originally aired on August 12, 2015)

This week on “Fed Access”,  David Eagles, director of the Center for Presidential Transition at the Partnership for Public Service, joins host Derrick Dortch to discuss what his office is doing to make sure the transfer of power from the Obama administration to the next one is as smooth and efficient as possible.

The center opened in January and is already helping the transition teams for presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump navigate the transition process.  The goal is to have enough policies and plans in place so the winner of the election will be ready to govern on day one.

Later in the show, Eric Katz, staff writer for Government Executive,  will talk about what the federal government would look like under a President Clinton or a President Trump.

He will explain the management styles of the two nominees, and how their proposals, if enacted, will affect feds. For example he discusses each candidate’s views on defense spending, Common Core, No Child Left Behind, the ongoing controversy at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and whether they plan any changes to the hiring and firing process for federal employees.
