The Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory awarded a contract to Unisys Corporation to transition 5,000 users to Google’s cloud-based email.

The contract is worth up to $10 million over 10 years, according to a statement from Unisys.

“Use of cloud computing, through solutions like Google messaging technologies with Unisys managed services support, is one way for us to innovate traditional services for higher reliability with a lower cost. Leveraging cloud-based technology also allows information managers to focus the necessary attention and resources toward the most critical elements of INL’s mission,” said Brent Stacey, chief information office of INL, in a statement.

Unisys also transitioned 17,000 employees at the General Services Administration to Google’s cloud-based email.
