Commentary submission

These are Federal News Network’s basic requirements for columns:

  • 750-1,250 words. There is some flexibility in length, but this should be the target.
  • The column/commentary cannot be product-focused or a marketing piece, but should show thought leadership on a specific topic.
    • This means we do not allow any discussion of vendor-specific products, services, work performed, or other promotions of a specific vendor in commentaries.
    • Proprietary research, such as industry surveys, may be discussed.
  • The column should be at least 75% exclusive content to Federal News Network.
  • We do edit the column/commentary but mainly for style and grammar.
    • Please do not double space after periods.
    • Only capitalize the first word of the headline
  • Hyperlink sources and references. Do not use footnotes.
  • Depending on the column/commentary, there may be opportunity for the SME to come on the air to discuss their column. This will occur at our discretion.
  • Many times there is no real deadline on our end. If there is a timeliness issue from your perspective, please let us know.
  • Please send a high resolution photo of the author.
To submit a commentary, column or op-ed for consideration by Federal News Network, please fill out this form. We will respond to pitches of interest to our audience.
