Shining Grant Memorial slowly emerges during restoration
The Architect of the Capitol is making noticeable progress on its Grant Memorial restoration, with shining bronze statues emerging from under the grime of time.
The Grant Memorial restoration project began in 2015, with the goal of cleaning, conserving and repairing the many elements of the memorial, which is located in Union Square near the U.S. Capitol. In January, the Architect of the Capitol employed a Philadelphia foundry to recast lost or missing bronze elements from the memorial.
