Rob Carey, Vice President of Navy and Marine Corps Programs, Vencore
Rob Carey is the vice president of Navy and Marine Corps programs at Vencore, Inc. In this role, Carey leads Vencore’s systems integration, research and data analytics business for Navy and Marine Corps customers.
Prior to joining Vencore, Carey was responsible for public sector cyber security at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). Before his role at CSC, Carey had a 31-year career serving in various components of the United States military, most recently serving as the Department of Defense (DoD) principal deputy chief information officer (CIO) helping lead the consolidation and standardization of the DoD information technology enterprise while strengthening its cybersecurity posture and enterprise architecture. Prior to joining the DoD CIO, Carey served as the fifth chief information officer for the Department of the Navy, where he championed transformation, enterprise services, and information security.
Carey began his government service in the military with the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1982, and went on to hold various positions with Naval Sea Systems Command, PEO Undersea Warfare, Lightweight Torpedo Program Office, Undersea Weapons Program Office and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
Carey also recently retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve after serving 25 years with the rank of captain in the Civil Engineer Corps. He was recalled to active duty for Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He holds a Master of Engineering Management degree from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of South Carolina.
