After intense criticism about his political views, Ambassador Charles Freeman Jr. has requested that his selection to be Chairman of the National Intelligence Council not proceed.

Some of the criticism was generated by previous statements in which Freeman criticized the Israeli government’s positions and U.S. support for those policies.
