A new request to help solve the NoVa military building shootings
A local military commander is asking the public to help find the person responsible for a series of shootings at Northern Virginia military buildings.

WASHINGTON – A local military commander is asking the public to help find the person responsible for a series of shootings at Northern Virginia military buildings.
Col. Daniel J. Choike, commander of the Marine Corp Base Quantico, is asking anyone – especially those in the military community – if they’ve heard or know something about the shootings to call the FBI.
“Every piece of information is relevant and investigators will work diligently to tie all the pieces together to complete the puzzle in an effort to solve this case,” says Choike in a prepared release.
The five shootings that targeted military building in Northern Virginia happened during the overnight and early-morning hours between Oct. 17 and Nov. 2.
Nobody was hurt in any of the shootings.
The FBI’S Joint Terrorism Task Force is offering up to $20,000 for information that will solve the case. Anyone with information is asked to call NCIS Quantico at 800-264-6485 or the FBI’s Washington Field Office at 202-278-2000.

- Shooting 1: The first at the Marine Corps Museum — A cleaning crew discovers bullet holes in the Marine Corps museum in Triangle, Va. Police believe the shots were fired late Saturday or early Sunday, Oct. 17.
- Shooting 2: The Pentagon — Shots fired at the Pentagon in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 18. Police initially label it a “random event.”
- Shooting 3: A Marine Corps recruiting station in Chantilly, Va. — Employees find bullet holes in the recruiting station’s windows. Police believe they were fired late Monday or early Tuesday, Oct. 26. The following Thursday, police announce all three shootings were fired from the same gun.
- Shooting 4: The second at the Marine Corps Museum — Employees discover more bullet holes, this time fired between 9 p.m Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29. The FBI believes the shooter has a connection with the Marine Corps, and encourages him to turn himself in and explain his grievance.
- Shooting 5: A Coast Guard recruiting station in Woodbridge, Va. — Employees find damage to the front window of the recruiting station caused by gunshots at some point late Monday or early Tuesday, Nov. 2. The shots did not penetrate the glass.
