House hearing to examine federal pay, staffing levels
A House subcommittee will hold a hearing next week to examine federal pay and propose solutions for government efficiency.

The House subcommittee on the federal workforce is looking to possibly implement a pay-for-performance system after reviewing federal pay. Rep. Dennis Ross (R-Fla.), chairman of the subcommittee, said he wants to cut federal staffing levels by at least 200,000 jobs.
Ross said a hearing next week will be the “first step toward that goal” and that a “pay-for-performance system will be necessary to properly manage a leaner federal work force,” in an interview with the Federal TimesThursday.
The hearing is scheduled for March 9 and is called “Are Federal Workers Underpaid?”
