While much of the attention has been focused on the renovation of the U.S. Capitol Dome, the Architect of the Capitol has other major projects going on around the National Mall. One of them is the renewal of the Cannon House Office Building.
Dedicated in 1908, the building has not received a major renovation since the 1930s. The current renovation began in 2014 and is expected to last 10 years. The initial stage of the work is underway. Members of Congress and their staffs will not need to relocate until December 2016, one month prior to Phase 1 of the the project.
