Leaders from the Teamsters, American Federation of Government Employees, Federal Education Association and National Association of Government Employees will advise the President on federal labor relations.

  • President Obama announced Friday that he will renew the QuickPay initative, requiring federal agencies to expedite payments to small business contractors. He also will launch SupplierPay, bringing together 26 large and small companies. SupplierPay builds on the success of QuickPay, and requires committed companies to pay small suppliers faster. It also asks them to support those suppliers' access to low-cost capital.

  • Federal employees now have the right to request a more flexible work schedule and managers must "carefully" consider those requests, President Barack Obama told agency heads in a June 23 memo on expanding workplace flexibility in the federal government. The memo, which coincided with a White House conference on working families, also encourages agency heads to expand flexible workplace policies, such as telework, alternative work schedules and temporary part-time duty "to the maximum extent practicable."
