The Pentagon said it made progress after the department’s independent Director of Operational Test and Evaluation declared the $4.3 billion electronic health record system is “neither operationally effective nor operationally suitable” for any further deployments across DoD’s global health care network. And once the Veterans Affairs Department finalized its own contract with Cerner Corporation for a $10 billion electronic health record that’s interoperable with the military’s system, all eyes were on the Defense Department.
