Can video games help wounded veterans heal from traumatic brain injuries? The Department of Defense is funding a project to find out. Studies have shown that video game-based therapies can help people improve manual dexterity, cognitive ability, memory, thought processing and reasoning. It’s a cost-effective way for VA hospitals to engage patients. It also doesn’t hurt that most of the troops grew up playing video games. Traumatic brain injury is the most common injury affecting troops today.
