Census must change to survive

The Census must change the way it does business if it wants to stay in business, NextGov reports.

Participation rates in the decennial census have declined, increasing the Census Bureau’s costs as employees must work harder to track down nonparticipants, NextGov reports.

Now Census costs are exceeding inflation every year, said Census Director Robert Groves.

Groves said the agency needs to adapt new technologies and innovate its processes.

“We will either change or be changed; we cannot go on the way we are,” Groves said in the NextGov article. “If we keep doing what we’re doing were in trouble.”
