On this week’s program, we tackle two Defense IT-related topics.

At the end of May, the Defense Information Systems Agency closed its large Defense Enterprise Computing Center in Huntsville, Alabama, reducing DISA’s total number of “DECCs” to 10, compared to 18 in 2008.

David Bennett, the agency’s Chief Information Officer and Alfred Rivera, the vice director for strategic planning join us to talk about DISA data center consolidation strategy and the path ahead.

Then, as Congress tees up another round of defense acquisition reform for a potential vote next year, it’s turned to several outside groups for ideas on what needs fixing right now. Those recommendations from industry, think tanks and academia are now starting to come back. Among the organizations lawmakers asked for input: the IT Acquisition Advisory Council. John Weiler, the council’s vice chairman talks with Jared Serbu about their five recommendations.
