Corruption in the ranks frustrates CBP

Corruption is a problem at Customs and Border Protection. So says that agency’s Commissioner, Alan Bersin. He testified before a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee and says CBP’s Inspector General has more than 600 open corruption investigations. More than 125 Customs employees have been arrested or indicted for smuggling drugs or illegal aliens, laundering money, and conspiracy since 2004. The Hill newspaper was on hand for the hearing.
