Security companies confirm that the hacking of dozens of law enforcement agencies did expose the personal information of more than 2,000 people, Government Computer News reports.

Hacker group AntiSec claimed responsibility for the attack, in which more than 10 gigabytes of data were stolen from 74 sheriffs offices across the country. The data, which was stolen and published online, includes names, addresses and social security numbers.

AntiSec has also claimed responsibility for the theft of military emails from defense contractor Booz Allen earlier this year.
