DISA headquarters earns LEED Gold
The complex in Ft. Meade, Md., received the second-highest environmental building certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Defense Information Systems Agency headquarters in Ft. Meade, Md., received a LEED Gold rating, the second highest environmental certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The 1.1 million square foot campus-like complex was commissioned after the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure as a way to consolidate DISA facilities. 
“The design/build team quickly recognized the opportunity to take this project a step further and challenged themselves to design and build at least a LEED Silver certified complex,” said DISA BRAC Executive David Bullock in a statement.
The construction included a “whole-building approach” to sustainability, including wellness programs, automatic lighting controls, water and energy conservation and use of public transit, according to a DISA release.
