Four cybersecurity bills will be considered in the House next week, calling for more coordination in developing unclassified computer networks and in writing cybersecurity standards.

  • H.R. 2096 reauthorizes cybersecurity research programs at the National Science Foundation and National Institute of Standards and Technology. It would also streamline the process for writing new standards across agencies.
  • H.R. 3834 reauthorizes the Networking Information Technology Research and Development program. It would strengthen research and development relating to unclassified networking.

Science, Space and Technology Committee Chairman Rep. Ralph Hall (R-Texas) said passing the bills were important for the nation’s infrastructure. Hall is part of a congressional task force designed to guide lawmakers through the spate of bills.
