The defense industry has poured money into the campaigns of members of the Armed Services committee and Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.

Freshman Virginia Rep. Glenn Nye received less than $10,000 in defense industry donations in 2008. Less than two years later, after serving on the House Armed Services Committee, Nye’s defense donations increased ten-fold.

The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton, has been on Capitol Hill for 33 years and “has rarely faced a tough contest.”
