In this week’s program, a focus on the defense industrial base. Barry Watts is our guest for most of the hour. In a recent background paper for the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, he argues that while the industry has weathered defense downturns in the past, the industrial base is a lot smaller now than during past examples of spending reduction, and that the DoD has never had a coherent strategy for making sure the defense industry’s core competencies stay intact.
