  • Some days, it's not easy being a senior career executive in the Federal Government. Ill will reached a peak last summer at the height of scandal in the Veterans Affairs Department. That led to Congress enacting legislation cutting the civil service protection of SESers at the VA. A couple of weeks ago, President Obama gave the SES a pat on the back, promising to make the service into how it was originally envisioned. So what will 2015 bring? David Dye, the director of Federal Human Capital Services at Deloitte and a former official at the Office of Personnel Management, offered some answers on the Federal Drive with Tom Temin.

  • Federal employees' overall satisfaction with their jobs fell for the fourth year in a row. That's according to the annual Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings from the Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte. The Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte released this year's version of the "Best Places to Work in the Federal Government" Tuesday.   • Some changes will come to the highest levels of the Defense Department if the National Defense Authorization Act becomes law. Federal News Radio Executive Editor Jason Miller says the deputy chief management officer will become the undersecretary of defense for business management and information starting Feb. 1, 2017. The NDAA includes language that will merge the DoD CIO and performance improvement officer into the new undersecretary position.
