E-Prescribing can reduce medical mistakes, lower the price of drugs and decrease administrative costs. Doctors in California are testing a new e-prescribing platform. Doctors’ offices are using e-prescribing through an automated data entry system, which allows doctors to electronically submit a prescription to a specific pharmacy. The technology also gives doctors real-time access to safety and prescription coverage information. As it improves, the database will also track preventable adverse drug reactions.
