With more state and local governments adjusting their budgets to allow for more health IT spending, companies are looking to recently-laid off IT workers to meet their demands for electronic medical record implementation. The chair of Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology at the Oregon Health & Science University speculates doctors’ offices may need even more expertise than hospitals. If that’s the case, it may be difficult to meet the necessary benchmarks for federal health IT stimulus incentives.
