The heads of the Health IT Standards Committee are rolling up their sleeves and working out the details of the next phase for the nationwide adoption of health IT — guidance for implementation. Jonathan Perlin, one of the committee heads, says the meetings signal a change in tenor in health IT implementation. The committee will make recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on criteria like standards, implementation specifications and requirements for the electronic exchange and use.
