More healthcare companies are turning to a popular social networking tool to boost patient engagement. Doctors are creating fan pages for their practices on Facebook as a way to better connect with their patients. Some doctors’ fan pages have background information on medical conditions and prescription drugs, so patients can better educate themselves before an appointment. Facebook can also be used as a virtual support group for people with chronic illnesses to share information and offer advice.
